Our curriculum

The curriculum at Fakenham Junior School broadly follows the National Curriculum. The Long-Term Plan ensures that the coverage is broad and balanced. 

At FJS the children’s learning is promoted through a variety of subject focussed topics, integrating several aspects of study and introducing diversity of culture, faith and ethnicity.  This is underpinned by daily English and Maths lessons.  The school is continuing the focus on PHSE, including the statutory Sex and Relationships Education.

First Hand Experience

Children learn best when their attention is caught and their imaginations are stimulated by lively teaching.

Direct observation leads to questioning and discussion.  Children are encouraged to pursue their investigations in the school library, using technology or by other means.  In this way independent and enquiring minds are fostered.

Visits and visitors play an important part.  Both local day visits to places of interest, and residential visits further afield are important.  There is an opportunity to take part in a residential visit in Year 6.

Our Schools

Synergy Multi-Academy Trust comprises fifteen Norfolk schools serving children between the ages of 2 and 18. Our schools work collaboratively together to raise standards and provide education of the highest possible standard, offering the best of opportunities for pupils. The Trust was initially established in 2015. We believe that all of our schools have strengths and areas to develop, and that all can improve through sharing expertise and wisdom. The Trust understands that there will be excellent practice in each school, and that every school will be able to contribute to the development of the Trust as a whole.
